Do You Have God In a Box?
The other day I was reading a devotional by Joyce Meyers entitled Let God Do the Heavy Lifting. She talked about our tendency to rely too much on our own strength to fix what’s broken and points out that John 15:5 states, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”
I know there are certain areas of my life that I have not turned completely over to God. I feel good when I look at the areas that I’ve turned over to Him, but when I take a step back and look at those that I haven’t, there’s a marked difference – confusion, strife, uncertainty, hurt.
What keeps us from totally surrendering to Christ – fear, shame, pride, reluctance to change? Why do we put Him in a box, only allowing Him in the places that we think He’s needed and asking Him to come in only when we think it’s necessary? When will we get out of His way and allow Him to be and to do what He has promised?
Invite God into every aspect of your life. Don’t confine Him to where you think He fits. We need His strength and wisdom to do all things. Under your own power you can do some things, but under His power, you can do ALL things.
